About the Project
This fellowship provided opportunities for students interested in audio/video production and digital storytelling to learn new technologies related to video recording and production, while exploring strategies for collecting and presenting an individual’s lived experience. Fellows worked alongside mentor Dr. Cazembe Kennedy to participate in the Digital DIAREEs (Digital Diversity & Inclusion Archival Repository for Equitable Employees) research project, which is a living digital history (audio/video interviews, vignettes, guided discussions, panels, etc.) of faculty development for underrepresented Vanderbilt faculty/staff.
Fellows also worked with mentors Tracye Davis and Seth Shepherd, the digital media specialists, and digital lab manager Connor Bacon, to learn about audio/visual hardware and software. Fellows met weekly to discuss high-level goals for the video research project, while helping project mentors map out a future for this research. Fellows also had the opportunity to participate in a digital media literacy learning community throughout the semester.
