Alumni may visit the libraries at any time during open hours with their VU card. View library hours for each of our library locations.
Library benefits for Vanderbilt alumni include:
- Access to a select group of specially licensed digital resources and databases
- Borrowing privileges at all campus libraries
- Expert assistance by professional librarians
Digital Resources and Databases
Licensing agreements require that some of our electronic resources are limited to current faculty, staff and students. Some material in our library catalog will not be available due to these licensing agreements.
The library also offers off-campus access to a select group of specially licensed alumni databases. For off-campus access, alumni will need a current VUNetID which must be renewed every 12 months. To obtain or reset a VUNetID, submit a request via the link Ask a Librarian with your full name, school name and the year of graduation.
Borrowing Card
All Vanderbilt alumni are encouraged to borrow books from the university’s libraries free of charge. To do so, you will need a Commodore Card. To obtain a card after graduation, be sure you have an active VUnetID. To obtain or reset a VUnetID, submit a request via the Ask a Librarian link and include your full name, school name and year of graduation. Then, pick up your Commodore Card at the Card Services office, 184 Sarratt Student Center on campus.
