Incubate
Through seed funding, education, training, and immersive learning experiences, we are available to assist in solidifying project ideas, including scoping, budgeting, technological requirements, and potential for external funding.
Advance
The Lab is available to assist scholars in identifying and applying for external funding to advance nascent projects. Support includes partnering on grant applications, identification of required technologies and expertise, and developing long-term preservation plans. In brief, we want to partner with you to ensure your project’s success and financial sustainability.
Preserve
Digital projects can be unique, globally impactful, and worthy of perpetual preservation. At this stage, we partner with our colleagues in Special Collections and University Archives to ensure that the project and underlaying assets can be preserved in perpetuity. Your project is important scholarship and like “traditional” forms of scholarship, we want to ensure that it remains available in perpetuity.

The Digital Lab is available to support your project from incubation to preservation through community building, grant administration, and project and lifecycle management. Through education, training, consultation, and communities of practice, the Lab engages with local digital scholars, networks them together, and removes barriers to entry for new scholars. These opportunities are designed to create space for creativity and shared discovery. Communities are encouraged to explore nascent or fuzzy project ideas, and the Lab provides seed grant opportunities to turn these ideas into proof of concepts.
Lab project managers can assist faculty with scoping and budgeting documentation for grant applications. Project managers can also identify internal and external talent, quantify percentages of effort, and manage their application to funded projects. Our team is also dedicated to working with campus partners to develop stable, sustainable, and extensible architecture for digital projects that can be preserved in perpetuity.
Have an idea you are interested in cultivating? Please don’t hesitate to reach out and we will be more than happy to work with you to bring it into reality.
