Caroline Maguire, MD’22, and Leland Dunwoodie, MD’22, met at VUSM and were married on Nov. 16, 2024, where a large contingent of Vanderbilt Med alumni and friends were in attendance. They are both currently completing a pediatric residency at Cincinnati Children’s.

Since the student-run Shade Tree Clinic opened in 2004, Robert Miller, MD‘82, HO‘82, FE’88, has been a guiding force. In 2024, his retirement from Vanderbilt was marked with a celebration and silent auction benefiting the clinic. The auction raised more than $19,000. Alumni and current faculty and trainees from the Medical Physics program gathered at the American Association of Physicists in Medicine annual meeting in Los Angeles in July 2024. The interdisciplinary program includes instruction from the VUSM Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, the College of Arts and Science, and the School of Engineering.

Lauren Barr, MD’20, and Philip Wilson, MD’21, married in Jacksonville, Florida, on May 24, 2024. They were joined by a number of fellow Vanderbilt Med alumni to celebrate the occasion.

Sean Moore, MD, MS, HO’06, FE‘09, a pediatrician and pediatric gastroenterologist, has been named the Mitchell Cohen chair and division director of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Cincinnati Children’s.

The Jahangir family attended the November 2024 Simpson Deans’ Lecture presented by Eiman Jahangir, MD, MPH’13, associate professor of Medicine and Radiology and director of Cardio-Oncology, third from right. Jahangir shared his experience as a crew member on the Blue Origin suborbital space flight in August 2024. His brother, Alex Jahangir, MD, MMHC’12, far left, is vice chair of VUMC’s Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.

In April 2024 Hugh Francis III, MD’84, of Memphis Surgery Associates, received the Tennessee Medical Association’s 2024 Outstanding Physician Award, with wife, Lysbeth Francis by his side.
