Commencement
|
Commencement takes place each year on the second Friday morning of May. Students and faculty participate in a University-wide ceremony on Alumni Lawn, followed by a separate medical school ceremony in Langford Auditorium. Candidates receive the hood of Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, and degrees are then conferred by the Dean.
In addition, each program housed in the School of Medicine has its own commencement celebration. For example, on the Thursday before Commencement—Class Day—the Doctor of Medicine program recognizes outstanding students for academic achievement and service to the school.
