Alumni Services

Alumni may visit the Heard Libraries at any time during open hours with their VU card. View library hours for each of our locations.

Library benefits for Vanderbilt alumni include:

  • Borrowing privileges at all campus libraries
  • Access to a select group of specially licensed digital resources and databases
  • Expert assistance by professional librarians

Digital Resources and Databases

Licensing agreements require that some of our electronic resources be limited to current faculty, staff and students. Some material in our library catalog will not be available due to these licensing agreements.

The libraries also offer off-campus access to a select group of specially licensed alumni databases. For off-campus access, alumni will need a current VUNetID, which must be renewed every 12 months. To obtain or reset a VUNetID, submit a request via the Ask a Librarian link and include your full name, school name and the year of graduation.

OneVU

Vanderbilt University now uses the OneVU platform to make accessing online applications easier and more secure. With OneVU, you can conveniently sign in to all your essential applications from one secure home page, with no need to remember multiple passwords.

OneVU uses the Okta Verify downloadable app to provide additional security features, such as secure mobile device verification and easy biometric authentication.

To onboard, navigate to onevu.vanderbilt.edu and enter your Vanderbilt email address.

Borrowing Card

All Vanderbilt alumni are encouraged to borrow books from the university’s libraries free of charge. To do so, you will need a Commodore Card. To obtain a card after graduation, be sure you have an active VUnetID. To obtain or reset a VUnetID, submit a request via the Ask a Librarian link and include your full name, school name and year of graduation. Then, pick up your Commodore Card at the Card Services office, 184 Sarratt Student Center on campus.

Help

Have questions? Stop by a library service desk on your next trip to campus, or feel free to send us a note. Librarians with subject and discipline expertise can provide alumni with information consultation services in person or by email. In addition, you can always Ask a Librarian.
