Diagnostic Imaging Faculty

Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences

From young innovators to experts with decades of experience, our diagnostic imaging faculty know the medical physics field inside and out— and they can’t wait to share it with you.

Diana Carver, PhD (DABR)
Associate Professor, Medical Physicist

After completing her MS and PhD in physics at Vanderbilt, Dr. Carver returned to Nashville from a diagnostic imaging residency to join our diagnostic imaging team in 2017. On practicum with her, you’ll test equipment like CT and MRI scanners. She also teaches Diagnostics Physics I, a spring course where you’ll explore topics like x-ray modalities and imaging informatics. As a VUSM alumna, she knows the power of a strong faculty, so she seeks to bring that to her own interactions with students.

Kenneth Lewis, PhD (DABR, CHP)

Kenneth Lewis, PhD (DABR, CHP)
Associate Professor, Medical Physicist

Dr. Lewis brings expertise in both clinical image quality and radiation safety. He is deeply invested in teaching both medical physics graduate students and radiology residents. After serving 13 years as a U.S. Navy Reserve officer, he joined Vanderbilt in 2016 and has continued to make a difference through one-on-one mentorship, research guidance, and diagnostic imaging courses.

Jared Grice, DMP (DABR, DABSNM)
Associate Professor, Medical Physicist

Dr. Grice Has a special interest in clinical education and coordinates DMP rotations in the 3rd and 4th year. After completing his MS and DMP degrees at Vanderbilt, he joined the medical physics faculty here in 2017. His fellowship and research experience in nuclear medicine bring a unique perspective to the courses he teaches for the imaging track. Now, he’s dedicated to continuing the tradition of excellence in the training on an everyday basis.

Michael Pridmore, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor, Radiology & Radiological Sciences

Mary Ann Keenan, MS, DMP (DABR)

Mary Ann Keenan, MS, DMP (DABR)
Assistant Professor, Medical Physicist

Dr. Keenan and the DMP program go back to the founding of the program, in fact. Dr. Keenan was the first student to go through Vanderbilt’s DMP, and she quickly became integral to the program’s shaping. After almost two decades in the Vanderbilt community, she now mentors MS and DMP imaging students, and her wide-ranging experience makes her a unique guide on your way to a medical physics career.

Daniel B. Brown, M.D., FSIR
Chair, Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences

Daniel B. Brown, MD, FSIR, is Professor and Chair of Radiology & Radiological Sciences as well as Biomedical Engineering at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dr. Brown has over 260 published articles and scientific abstracts and has given more than 300 invited talks. He has served on the Executive Council of the Society of Interventional Radiology and Society of Interventional Oncology. His research has focused primarily on locoregional therapy of cancer, including Cryoablation as well as other thermal ablation modalities.
