Application Procedure
- Create an account
- Under the section for 'Summer Research Programs' select 'VINSE - REU'
- Submit application materials before the 2.15 deadline
Vanderbilt has several REU summer programs, so be sure to select the correct one. You can apply for up to two REU programs, but you will need to complete a separate application for each program.
Materials & Application Tips
- The 2.15 deadline includes letters of recommendation. You can submit your application while waiting for your letters to be uploaded, but letters must be received by the deadline for your application to be considered in the first round.
- Unofficial transcripts are accepted and should be attached to your electronic application. You will only need to provide an official transcript if admitted. Do not mail transcripts.
- Your statement of purpose should briefly describe your interest in research, your experience to date if applicable, what you expect to gain from the REU and your future plans.
- REU participants must be United States citizens or Permanent Residents.
Summer 2026 Research Projects
Selections are primarily based on academic standing and faculty recommendations. Decisions are made with the goal of providing the 'best fit' between the projects offered by the faculty and the summer participant's background and interests.
