Abstract

An adapted alternating treatments design (AATD) was used to assess the differing effects of using punishing procedures (error correction) compared with using reinforcement-only procedures (reinforce attempts, reinforce attempts with delayed instruction, and differential reinforcement) for teaching Italian vocabulary words to preschool-aged children. Additionally, participant preference of each teaching approach was evaluated using a concurrent operant paradigm.
