Fall 2025 Room Change and Vacancy Pull-In Information – First-Year Students

General Information

Room changes will be reviewed beginning Monday, August 25. Requests will continue to be reviewed as submitted throughout the fall semester. Due to extremely limited available space, we cannot guarantee room changes.

Vacancy Pull-In Requests

Any student requesting to move into a vacancy in a friend’s double or triple room should complete the Room Change Application beginning Wednesday, August 20.

If you have a vacancy in your room and wish to pull in a friend of your choice (first-year students only), please email our office at housing@vanderbilt.edu to confirm the student/s you would like to pull-in to your space.

Fall 2025 Room Change and Vacancy Pull-In Information – Upper-Division Students

Eligibility

Any continuing upper-division student assigned to a physical bed space on campus is welcome to request a room change. Students residing off campus are not eligible to participate in the process.

General Information

Any student requesting to change rooms should complete the Room Change Request located under the Applications menu in the Housing Portal beginning Wednesday, August 20. Requests to change rooms can be submitted though Friday, November 14. A spring room change process will begin on the first day of spring classes. Seniority-based random selection is utilized to determine room changes. Housing anticipates high demand with limited space availability. Room changes are not guaranteed.

NOTE: Students looking to change rooms at the end of the fall semester in preparation for the spring semester should view the End of Fall Semester Room Change information below, and should not submit a request between August 20 and November 14.

Upper-Division Student Room Change Freeze

Upper-division student room changes requests submitted by September 3 will be reviewed beginning September 10. Requests submitted after September 3 will be considered on a rolling basis after September 10. Prior to this time, Housing and Residential Experience is in the process of verifying all assigned students have taken occupancy of their assigned spaces and accounting for available vacancies.

Vacancy Pull-In Requests

Students residing in group living (apartments, doubles, Mayfield lodges, and Residential College suites) are welcome to pull in other eligible continuing upper-division students of their choice to fill any vacancies.

Students with an on-campus housing assignment interested in moving to a vacancy in a friend’s apartment, double, lodge or suite must submit the Room Change Request beginning August 20.

All students assigned to the apartment, double, Mayfield lodge, or Residential College suite must also email Housing (housing@vanderbilt.edu) to confirm the student/s requesting to be pulled in.

Once all requests/emails are received (from both the student/students filling the vacancy/vacancies, and all current occupants), Housing will process the request and students will receive a confirmation email.
