Mark A. Noll, a Vanderbilt graduate with a Ph.D in the History of Christianity, is the Francis A. McAnaney Professor of History at the University of Notre Dame. He discusses the role of the Bible and religion in American public and private life. Professor Noll spoke Oct. 11 ,2007 at Vanderbilt's Benton Chapel as the 2007 Cole lecturer at Vanderbilt Divinity School.
