Reading Room Guidelines

Special Collections books, manuscripts, photographs and archives have to be used in our Reading Room. Learn more about guidelines governing the use of these materials.

Collection Development Policy

Special Collections seeks to collect in subject areas receiving substantial and sustained attention within the University community, those representing ongoing departmental research interests, or those areas that are the focus of interdisciplinary programs. Oral History Guidelines

SCUA preserves oral history interviews as whole collections or part of manuscript and university collections. We have also created guidelines for conducting oral history interviews and how to prepare them for donation to our archive. Publication Policy for Library Materials

In most cases, Special Collections and University Archives owns only the physical materials and therefore does not assume any responsibility for literary property, copyright, or any other legal issues involved in the use of items in its collections. It is the responsibility of the user to secure permission from the appropriate copyright holder or to research the applicability of fair use rights. Any copyright infringement which may occur through the use of these materials is the responsibility of the user. Please contact the director of Special Collections and University Archives for additional questions about publishing or reproducing materials in our collections.

Rights and Permissions

Special Collections complies with United States copyright law and its applicable exceptions.
