RePublic Schools is a free, open-enrollment network of public charter schools, made up of passionate teachers and leaders dedicated to reimagining public education in the South.
WE ARE REPUBLIC
Founded in 2011, RePublic Schools serve more than 3,100 scholars in seven schools across two cities; Jackson, Mississippi and Nashville, Tennessee. We prepare our scholars, the majority of whom come from underserved communities, to successfully navigate their chosen college and pathway through school communities grounded in love, achievement, and belonging.

For generations, too many students in the South haven’t had access to the education they need to reach their full potential. At RePublic, we’re changing that story. We create schools where scholars are known, challenged, and supported—so they can thrive in school, feel a strong sense of belonging, and build bright, choice-filled futures.
THE LOWEST ODDS
A child in the Deep South has the lowest odds of going from the bottom of the income distribution to the top. We are helping to turn those odds around.
NOT COLLEGE READY
In 2019, the average ACT score in Nashville’s public schools was an 18.5, far below a college ready score of 21. We ensure our scholars are on track and prepared to succeed in college and beyond.
FALLING BEHIND
According to U.S. News & World Report, Mississippi is ranked 45th in the country for academic achievement and Tennessee is ranked 38th. We work to ensure our scholars do not fall behind and experience academic success.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
To reimagine public education in the South means we challenge the status quo. We believe that the way things have always been done is not enough and does not benefit our students. Therefore, we make a commitment to our scholars and their families that we set them up for success now and in the future. Our scholars will graduate with the competencies outlined in our portrait of a graduate.

PROVING WHAT’S POSSIBLE FOR KIDS IN THE SOUTH.
IN JACKSON
Our Jackson middle schools are Jackson’s highest-rated open-enrollment middle schools. Reimagine Prep Middle School earned a “C” letter grade, and Smilow Prep Middle School earned a “B” letter grade, securing the spot as the city’s top open-enrollment middle school option. Open enrollment means that we are non-selective in our enrollment practices and serve children on a first-come, first-served basis regardless of their academic performance level. Our scores represent significant improvements in our SY23-24 school accountability data, reflecting the hard work of our scholars and educators.
In addition to substantial improvements in our middle school scores, our elementary school, Smilow Collegiate, earned a “C” letter grade. It is the sixth-highest of 28 open-enrollment elementary schools in Jackson. Revive Collegiate is RePublic School’s newest elementary school. Learn more about how Revive Collegiate has expanded since its opening.
