Welcome to MacGurn Lab!
We investigate fundamental mechanisms of membrane trafficking and protein degradation to advance understanding of aging and disease.
Lab Mission & Philosophy
We are focused on dissecting mechanisms of membrane trafficking and protein degradation. Such pathways play a fundamental role in the maintenance of healthy cells and tissues, and their breakdown contributes to the progression of disease and aging. Our long-term goal is to contribute new knowledge and understanding that informs novel strategies for the development of human therapeutics.
As a lab, we are deeply committed to:
-
- Contributing rigorous, reproducible research that adds value to society
- Training the next generation of scientists
- Serving the community through outreach activities that broadly promote STEM education
