Since its debut in 1961, Christmas Village has raised more than $15.5 million, positively impacting thousands of lives. Proceeds from this cherished charitable event support:
● Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, Tennessee as well as scholarships for aspiring artists to attend.

The origin of Christmas Village began in 1951 when sisters Nancy Fawn Wilkerson Diehl and Jane Wilkerson Yount, siblings of Bill Wilkerson, led a fundraising effort with their Vanderbilt Pi Beta Phi sisters to support the newly opened Bill Wilkerson Center for Special Hearing and Speech Programs. The Nashville Pi Beta Phi Alumnae Club embraced the initiative, and under the leadership of Berenice Miller Denton and Barbara White Fridrich, the event’s first co-chairs, a festive fundraiser called “Christmas Fairyland” was launched. This one-day event featured holiday displays by local merchants and raised $1,020 for the Center.
By 1961 that one day event grew into Christmas Village, a four day holiday shopping tradition featuring over 250 merchants and drawing more than 30,000 shoppers each year. Today, it stands as one of the premier holiday markets in the Southeast.
Your continued support helps fund vital services in hearing, speech, and education, making a lasting impact in our community.

Christmas Village would like to thank all of our sponsors for their generous support!

In 1991, I was asked to lead Christmas Village, an event that was foundational to the club, critical to funding its philanthropies, and beloved by all of Nashville. I was humbled and honored. Another thirty years later, the women entrusted with the Christmas Village legacy ensure it remains fresh and fun for its patrons, profitable for its vendors, and supportive of its charities. There is nothing like the Christmas Village experience! To be a large part of something larger than yourself is the heart’s reward of our calling.
Peggy Wilson Lawrence, 1991 Christmas Village Co-Chair
My first show with Christmas Village was in 1985 and I’ve been a merchant ever since - 37 years!
I’ve been a long-time merchant at the Village for the following reasons:

And, if you’re a shopper, you’ll definitely enjoy browsing all the unusual gift selections exhibited by merchants from across the United States.
Not only is Christmas Village one of the oldest and most prestigious Christmas consumer shows in the South, it donates all proceeds to Vanderbilt’s Bill Wilkerson Center and other Pi Beta Phi charities.

The Pi Beta Phi Alumnae Club has been a vital part of the Bill Wilkerson Center for over 70 years. To ensure ongoing financial stability for our programs, in 1961 the Pi Beta Phi Alumnae Club established Christmas Village – by far our longest lasting and most profitable fundraiser. The financial support of Christmas Village, along with the ongoing individual funding of many of their members, has allowed us to sustain the Pi Beta Phi Rehabilitation Institute as the premier out-patient rehabilitation center in this region for adults and children with central nervous system disorders and acquired injuries. Today, patients travel from across and outside of the U.S. seeking services from our expert clinicians in our state-of-the-art facility.”
