No one should ever have to choose between feeding themselves and feeding their pets.❤️
As the government shutdown continues and SNAP benefits come to a halt, families across the country, and right here in Middle Tennessee, are feeling the impact.
While SNAP benefits can’t be used to buy pet food, they often make it possible for families to stretch their budgets and care for every member of the household, furry friends included. Without it, many are left facing heartbreaking choices.
At Nashville Humane, we’ve seen the ripple effects firsthand. The need at our weekly Pet Food Bank is increasing, with families lining up to make sure their pets don’t go hungry. On average, we provide food for 260 beloved pets every week, and the requests keep coming. That is 779 lbs of pet food given out EVERY WEEK!
If you’re in a position to give, please consider donating pet food or litter to ANY local pet pantry or animal welfare organization. Every bag of food donated helps keep pets out of shelters and in the homes where they’re loved most. Sometimes, a single bag of food is all it takes to keep a family together.
To support our work directly, you can donate through our Amazon Wishlist or drop off items at our shelter (213 Oceola Avenue) during business hours!
When families fall on hard times, community is what holds us together. Let’s make sure every pet in Middle Tennessee goes to bed with a full belly and a family that loves them.❤️
