Diagnostic Laboratories recognize "Avengers of the Laboratory"

Each year during the last week of April (this year, April 18-24), the VUMC Diagnostic Laboratories participate in the celebration of Medical Laboratory Professionals Week. The American Society for Medical Technology, now called the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS), established Lab Week in 1975 to honor the dedication of laboratorians and pathologists providing excellent patient care.  Forty-six years later, this week is still a week to celebrate laboratory professionals around the nation.

This year’s VUMC Lab Week theme will be “Avengers of the Laboratory." A statement from the Diagnostic Labs:

"In the Diagnostic Labs at VUMC, there are approximately 450 Avengers wearing lab coats and championing the cause of patient care. These lab heroes have worked tirelessly over the past year providing thousands of laboratory test results to diagnose and treat patients from middle Tennessee and beyond.  The heroes of VUMC’s laboratories usually remain unseen by patients and staff but are a vital part of each patient’s journey.  Take a moment this April to thank your VUMC laboratory Avenger."
