Everyday Health reporter Don Rauf interviewed William Schaffner, MD, professor of Preventive Medicine, for a story about the measles outbreak in the Portland, Oregon, area. Schaffner was also interviewed for a story on CNN about the World Health Organization naming anti-vaccine activists among the top threats to global health, and for a Yahoo News story about how to prevent colds in children.
Robert Miller, MD, Patricia and Rodes Hart Professor of Medicine, is quoted in a CNN story about the health of Supreme Court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
New York Times Magazine columnist Lisa Sanders published a story about a study of two patients who had mysterious and severe reactions to medications (steroid injections and colonoscopy preparation) and both turned out to have a provable allergy to polyethylene glycol 3350 (PEG 3350). The research was conducted by Cosby Stone, MD, post-doctoral Research Fellow in Allergy/Immunology, and Elizbeth Phillips, MD, director of the Vanderbilt Drug Allergy Clinic.
Science posted a piece on a virus that can fight an eye cancer in children. Anthony Daniels, MD, assistant professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, is quoted.
