April Bedside Matters rounds: “Death, Dying, and Death-Telling in the ED, 2020”

A reflection on the unique circumstances of the care of dying patients in the VUMC Emergency Department in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic—balancing care and caution. Our seed case will be the story of our patient, an elderly Amish female who suffered a non-survivable hemorrhagic stroke while caring for her own acutely ill husband and who died in our Emergency Department under our care.
