Nominations sought for annual Levi Watkins, Jr. M.D. faculty, house staff and student awards; lecture is Oct. 5
Save the date for the 20th Annual Levi Watkins, Jr. M.D. Lecture to be held on Tuesday, Oct. 5, at noon.
The keynote speaker will be George C. Hill, professor of medical education and administration and professor of pathology, microbiology and immunology, emeritus, at Vanderbilt University. More information to come.
In addition, nominations are now being sought for the annual Levi Watkins Jr. Faculty Award and Levi Watkins Jr. Student Award, and Levi Watkins Jr. House Staff Award.
About the faculty award
This award is presented annually to at least one member of the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine faculty or administration who has made outstanding contributions to the institution and community in fostering opportunities for underrepresented minorities in educational, training and research programs.
Submit nominations by Sept. 7.
About the student awards
These awards are presented annually to at least one graduate student and one medical student associated with Vanderbilt University School of Medicine who have made outstanding contributions to the institution and community in fostering a more diverse environment that is enriching, encouraging and embracing of all Vanderbilt medical school students, faculty, staff and administrators.
Submit nominations by Sept. 7.
About the house staff award
This award is presented annually to at least one of the Vanderbilt University Medicine Center housestaff who has made an outstanding contribution to the institution and community in fostering opportunities for underrepresented minorities in our educational, training and research programs.
