Department of Medicine announces October Medicine Grand Rounds
Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s (VUMC) Department of Medicine will host the upcoming Medicine Grand Rounds on Thursdays at 8 a.m. in October. Lectures will be live streamed and open to the medical community, including those outside Vanderbilt. Free CME credit is also provided with advanced registration.
October 7: “The Intersection of Thrombosis and Immunity”

October 14: Glenn Koenig Lectureship: “The HIV Pandemic: Where are we and where are we going?”
- Speaker: Diane Havlir, MD, Professor of Medicine and Chief of the HIV, Infectious Diseases and Global Medicine Division, University of California San Francisco and Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center
October 21: Oates Lectureship: “Premature Vascular Damage in Systemic Autoimmunity: Lessons Learned from Lupus”
- Speaker: Mariana J. Kaplan, MD, Senior Investigator, Systemic Autoimmunity Branch, National Institutes of Health
October 28: Salmon Lectureship: “Hospital Progress Notes: Can we reduce burden and increase value?”
- Speaker: Thomas Payne, MD, Professor of Medicine (General Internal Medicine) and Biomedical Informatics and Medical Education, University of Washington
