Special virtual edition of Night Lights for Children's Hospital is tonight

On Tuesday, Nov. 9, Nashville will once again say “good night” and light up buildings in support of patients, families and the health care teams at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt and across the Midstate.

The third annual Night Lights for Children’s Hospital will again include special virtual programming, which will be broadcast online for physicians, nurses and staff to watch from their devices. You’re invited to tune in, starting at 5:45 p.m., at the following link: VanderbiltHealth.org/NightLights. Or, watch on the Children’s Hospital Facebook page.

With the help of our own Seacrest Studio at Children’s Hospital, we plan to show live, aerial video footage of the lighted buildings around the city, special video messages and a parade of emergency vehicles.

You can also participate on social media. If you see one of the buildings lit up in Children’s Hospital’s primary colors, take a photo, post to social and tag @vumcchildren. Some of the key buildings participating include: Adventure Science Center, AllianceBernstein, AT&T Building, Bridgestone Arena, Bridgestone Tower, Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge, Historic Nashville Metropolitan Courthouse, First Horizon Park, Grand Hyatt Nashville, the Tennessee State Capitol, Nashville International Airport and Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital Vanderbilt Surgery and Clinics Murfreesboro.

There also could be some impact to traffic around the hospital from 6 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. as Nashville police, fire and EMS vehicles, along with VUPD vehicles, flash their emergency lights for a special “good night” to patients in their rooms. Please do not gather outside to watch the flashing of the lights.

Parking and Transportation impacts include:

  • Shuttle notice:
    • The VUMC shuttle stop on Children’s Way may experience some delay in service from 6 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
  • Streets around Children’s between 6 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
    • There will be no street closures but VUPD will be in the area to help intersection control.
  • South Garage:
    • If entering/exiting the garage via Children’s Way, approach and exit from the 24th Avenue side of the garage.
    • Same guidance if you enter/exit the garage from Pierce Avenue, do so from the 24th Avenue side of the garage.
