eStar update: Verbal consents for procedures

To allow for consents to be collected in a manner that requires less physical contact and can thus inhibit spread of infections, a new note template will be available in eStar beginning April 29. This template allows for a verbal consent to be collected from the patient for surgeries and procedures.

The note template is available as a button in Pre-op, Prep for Case and the Non-Surgical>Procedure activities. The template can be “wrenched” into the Ambulatory workflow.

Please note that these consents will appear in the Notes tab and NOT the media tab where paper consents appear. See the Tip Sheet “Using Public Health Emergency Verbal Consent Note SmartPhrase” (available in Hubbl)  for more details.
