Box now protected by MFA

As Vanderbilt University Medical Center continues to support work-at-home efforts for many employees, workforce members are using online collaboration tools more than ever to effectively work from home offices.

To further support the Work at Home initiative and improve VUMC’s cybersecurity posture, VUMC Enterprise Cybersecurity (VEC) has expanded the use of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to enhance protection of VUMC systems and data. MFA is considered the industry standard for protecting systems and resources from cyberattacks.

VUMC users accessing Box are now required to use MFA to complete the login process. 

If you have already enrolled in MFA, you are familiar with the authentication process. When you attempt to access VUMC resources protected by MFA, you will use either a hard token or your phone to authenticate with a six-digit code, in addition to your username and password.

MFA is currently also in place for the Virtual Private Network (VPN) and certain areas of AccessVUMC and C2HR. Clinicians who prescribe controlled substances also use MFA.

If you haven’t yet enrolled in MFA, use the convenient MFA Configuration Assistant to maintain access to Box. For more information on MFA, visit the VEC website.
