Brad Paisley surprises over 600 nurses to culminate VUMC 'Gratitunes'
This year’s event, held May 19, was attended by nearly 600 nurses from their homes, offices and nurse's stations. The address was part of Vanderbilt’s ongoing recognition of National Nurses Week and 2020 being the ‘Year of the Nurse,’ which honors the 200th birthday of Florence Nightingale, founder of modern nursing. The Zoom video is available for viewing here.
Throughout the month of April, the Nashville community came together to bring ‘Gratitunes’ to the medical staff at Vanderbilt University Medical Center through performances and words of encouragement on their personal Instagram page.
The consumer-generated platform and initiative kicked off March 30, National Doctors’ Day, with dedicated ‘Gratitunes’ from Brad Paisley, Dustin Lynch, Jewel, Lauren Alaina and more. Artists encouraged their fans and followers nationwide to visit www.gratitunes.com to add their own ‘Gratitune’ to a playlist, which was made available to all VUMC COVID-19 assessment sites and the hospital to help lessen stress and anxiety and lift spirits.
HARDY, Russell Dickerson, Scotty McCreery, Eli Young Band, Pat Green and Maddie & Tae are among the many artists who shared Gratitunes. To date, over 80 artists have participated in the campaign reaching over 543,672 engagements. Over 1,300 Gratitunes were dedicated by fans, and 5,447 songs were added to the Gratitunes Spotify playlist.
