Roots of Resiliency webinar on coping with anxiety in a time of pandemic set for June 25
Coping with Worry, Fear, and Anxiety in a Time of Pandemic
Thursday, June 25, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Central
Uncertainty seems to be the name of the game these days. How do I keep myself and my family safe; when is it OK to engage in my usual activities; how long with this last; will the kids go back to school…? The questions feel endless and it feels like there is little clarity in seeking answers. This week, Tarah Kuhn, PhD, and Jon Ebert, PsyD, psychologists from the Vanderbilt Center of Excellence, will be joined by psychologist Jenni Blackford, PhD, professor in the VUMC Department of Psychiatry and expert in the field of anxiety to talk about the different ways of responding and managing uncertainty, fear and anxiety. We will discuss how understanding one’s own sensitivity to uncertainty and knowing which brain/body mechanisms are involved in this experience can provide guidance on how to better tolerate uncertainty and ultimately reduce anxiety.
Roots of Resiliency is a weekly webinar series that represents a partnership between DCS and VUMC. This initiative invites you to join faculty and staff from the Vanderbilt Center of Excellence, along with other experts in the field of parenting, wellness and mental health with the goal of sharing knowledge and answering questions for the community. We hope this is an opportunity to address areas that may be relevant during this time.
