Update on overnight vehicle break-ins

Overnight, Vanderbilt University Police Department (VUPD) officers responded to a report of multiple vehicles that were burglarized in the Medical Center’s Central Garage.

More than 30 vehicles were found to be affected. The vehicles were located on the 4th, 5th, and 6th floors of Central Garage.

VUPD reviewed video footage and has identified suspects in the matter. The Metro Nashville Police Department has been notified and given descriptions of the individuals. There is an ongoing investigation into this matter.

In response to this event, VUPD has assigned additional Community Service Officers to patrol the parking garages.

VUMC is committed to employee and patient safety and always encourages everyone to lock their vehicles and not leave valuables visible.

As an added safety measure, employees are encouraged to download the VandySafe app from VUPD, which includes such features as emergency calling, reporting services and emergency guides.
