eStar Update: New STAT button in Medication Order Composer

As of Sept. 30, a new STAT button is available in the Priority field of the medication Order Composer. The button will help improve patient safety through better STAT visibility and a minimized risk of missed STAT designations.

• ·        The New STAT Button affects all ordering processes that contain an option for Priority in the inpatient setting
• Selecting STAT for scheduled frequencies and Priority will not change the frequency time to NOW, but the dosage will begin after order is placed
• For scheduled medications, click “Include Now” in order to adjust the dosage start time to “Now”
