United Press International, WPLN Nashville Public Radio, HealthDay News, WSMV Channel 4 News, Infectious Diseases in Children and Journalist’s Resource were among the news outlets that interviewed Stephen Patrick, MD, director of the Vanderbilt Center for Child Health Policy, for stories about his JAMA study that found babies born after being exposed to opioids before birth are more likely to be delivered in regions of the U.S. with high rates of long-term unemployment and lower levels of mental health services. U.S. News and World Report also ran the HealthDay story.
William Schaffner, MD, professor of Preventive Medicine, was quoted in stories on Fox News, U.S. News and World Report and other outlets about a company marketing tissues allegedly “sneezed-in” as a way of preventing infections. "This is potentially hazardous if it does work, and I don't think that it does," he said.
