eStar update on new clinical decision support of venous thromboembolism and deep vein thrombosis
A new clinical decision support for venous thromboembolism (VTE) and deep vein thrombosis (DVT) has been deployed for adult medicine patients. The new clinical decision support will better risk-stratify adult medicine patients who have potential risk for VTE during hospitalization, as well as streamline and facilitate correct DVT/VTE Prophylaxis order entry throughout the patient encounter.
The clinical decision support consists of a new DVT/VTE Prophylaxis order panel as well as alerts that will appear when patient revaluation is necessary. A best practice advisory (BPA) will fire for ALL admitted patients on an adult medicine service (regardless of whether patient has appropriate prophylaxis ordered), prompting users to select VTE risk stratification
