Vanderbilt Kennedy Center to host webinar on supported decision-making tomorrow

The Vanderbilt Kennedy Center University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (VKC UCEDD) and its IDD Toolkit team will be hosting a free webinar titled “Supported Decision-Making: An Introduction for Health Care Providers” on Thursday, Aug. 1, at noon.

Supported decision-making is about helping people with disabilities make as many decisions about their own lives as possible, whereas conservatorship allows someone else to make decisions for the individual. Webinar facilitators will discuss less restrictive alternatives like supported decision making, particularly in the health care setting.

Serving as speakers will be Lauren Pearcy, director of Public Policy at the Tennessee Council on Developmental Disabilities, and Susan Mee, legal director for Disability Rights Tennessee.
