African American adults needed for study of genetics and blood vessel function

African American volunteers are needed for a clinical study about how genetic changes impact blood vessel function.

The purpose of this study is to learn about the role of a protein called CD36 that may play a role in keeping blood vessels healthy. It is unknown whether people who carry genetic changes of the protein CD36 are more likely to have high blood pressure. We want to study people of African American heritage because they have more genetic variations in the CD36 protein compared to people from other backgrounds.

You may qualify if you are:

  • A healthy African American man or woman
  • 18-50 years old
  • Without diabetes or high blood pressure

This study requires:

  • A screening visit: 1.5 hours
  • Three additional study days: 10 hours each
  • FDA-approved study medication: Taken for four weeks at home
  • Blood and urine collections

The study visits are completed in six weeks.

Participants will be compensated for their time after completing each study visit.
