Drill scheduled for communicable disease response, Nov. 4

There is a drill about the transport of a patient with a highly infectious disease scheduled from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 4. The primary focus of this year’s exercise will be the transport of a highly infectious disease patient from the Communicable Disease Response Unit (CDRU), located on the second floor of the Round Wing in Medical Center North, to another treatment facility. An adult volunteer will be playing the role of a person infected with a highly infectious disease who will present to the CDRU where the exercise will begin.

The Communicable Disease Response Team (CDRT) will respond and manage patient care to include transportation via ambulance to the airport, where the VUMC exercise will conclude. The team will simulate a patient handoff for transportation to a treatment facility at the airport but the VUMC exercise will conclude there.
