A roundup of a few recent stories from the press about Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Mary Romano, MD, associate professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Adolescent Medicine and Young Adult Health, appeared on ABC News’ “Nightline” in a story about the Texas custody case involving a trans 7-year old who is caught in the middle of two parents who disagree on whether their child should socially transition from a boy to a girl. 

Reuters Health reporter Marilynn Larkin interviewed Chris Sobey, MD, director of Pain Medicine Fellowship and assistant professor of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine, for a story about a JAMA study that demonstrates using stellate ganglion blocks is effective at reducing the severe symptoms of PTSD in veterans.

Public radio's “Reset” program, hosted by Jenn White and originating at WBEZ in Chicago, interviewed Beth Malow, MD, Burry Chair in Cognitive Childhood Development, and professor of Neurology and Pediatrics in the Sleep Disorders Division, live on Wednesday about her the JAMA Neurology commentary recapping large epidemiological studies that advocate for ending the practice of setting clocks forward or back. Malow was also quoted in a U.S. News and World Report story on the same topic.

William Schaffner, MD, professor of Preventive Medicine, was quoted in several stories this week, including a Healthline piece about where flu is already hitting and where the flu vaccine is in short supply, and an Everyday Health story about a tuberculosis vaccine.
