Children 9-12 years old needed for hearing study

The Auditory Development Lab is looking for typically developing children 9-12 years of age to participate in a research study. The purpose of the study is to evaluate how children listen and how their brains process sound in noisy environments and whether we can effectively train children’s brains to process speech in noise with a commonly used hearing technology (a remote microphone system).

One visit to our research facilities will be involved in this study. As part of this study your child will be asked to listen to and repeat sentences and words while listening in a noisy environment and to listen to some sounds while wearing a net with sensors on his/her head. In addition, your child’s hearing will be evaluated and he/she will have to complete a short cognitive test. The visit will take around two hours, and after participating, your child will receive a $25 gift card.
