On Dec. 15, @vanderbilt.edu email accounts for staff to be removed

Information Technology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center has completed the migration of all Medical Center email accounts to the Microsoft Office 365 cloud environment. The final step in the Email Migration Project includes the removal of @vanderbilt.edu email addresses (currently considered a secondary VUMC email account), which are owned and supported by Vanderbilt University.

On Dec. 15, 2019, @vanderbilt.edu email addresses will be removed from the Medical Center email environment. All email sent to secondary @vanderbilt.edu email addresses will bounce back to the sender as these addresses are removed.

It is important to note that Faculty members will retain their VU identity/account, @vanderbilt.edu email address, and any settings applied to each account (such as forwarding rules).

There are actions staff members can take before Dec.15 to minimize disruption.  Ensure that:

  • Business contacts and organizations are notified about your @vumc.org email address
  • Your @vumc.org email address is properly displayed on your Outlook email signature
  • Internal VUMC applications utilizing profiles reflect email address changes
  • Business cards or letterhead reflect email/website address changes
