Participants 8-20 years old with reading difficulties needed for research study

Vanderbilt University researchers are seeking participants with reading difficulties for a study entitled “Neurobiology and Treatment of Reading Disabilities in Neurofibromatosis Type-1”

  • -  Currently recruiting participants age 8-20 who have reading difficulties

  • -  Involves:

o 30-45 minute phone screening to determine eligibility.
o Three separate visits to Vanderbilt: Visits one and three will be over two days, approximately 3-4 hours each day. Visit two consists of 12-15 hours of intensive reading intervention over 3-5 consecutive days at Vanderbilt.

o Four MRI scans of the brain spread across the three visits.
o A check for $150 for the first visit, $150 for the 2nd visit, and $150 for the last visit will be mailed to your home after each part of the study is completed. Participants also receive picture of their brain and summary of test scores.
