VUMC taking part in airport disaster drill Saturday, March 24

Vanderbilt University Medical Center is taking part in a community-wide disaster drill on Saturday, March 24 with the scenario of a crash at the Nashville International Airport (BNA) between two airplanes resulting in an influx of mass casualty patients. Hundreds of mock patients will be transported across the region.

The VUMC portion of the drill is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon.

VUMC Departments participating include: Adult and Pediatric Emergency Departments, Vanderbilt University Adult Hospital, Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital, Nursing Services, LifeFlight, Vanderbilt University Police Department, Traffic and Parking, Guest Services, Pharmacy, Laboratory Services, Patient Transport, Blood Bank, EAP, Pastoral Services, Adult and Children’s Access Centers, Cardiac Access Center, Social Work, Vanderbilt Home Health, Vanderbilt Stallworth Rehabilitation Hospital, Adult and Children’s Registration, Decedent Affairs, Labor Pool, Supply Chain, VEHS,  VPH,  EVS, Volunteer Services, Finance, Radiology and Radiological Sciences, Interpreter Services and VUMC Emergency Preparedness and Response.

Other participants in the drill include the Davidson County Office of Emergency Management (OEM), Regional Medical Communications Center Davidson/MidCumberland (RMCC), Metro Nashville Police Department, Nashville Fire Department and several other health care facilities across the state.
