Heavy equipment removal on April 4 to temporarily close CCT freight elevator

The removal of two pieces of heavy equipment from the Blood Bank on the 4th floor of the Critical Care Tower (CCT) will necessitate the closing of the CCT freight elevator No. 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4.

The pieces of equipment, weighing 3,000 lbs. each, will be moved from the Blood Bank to the elevator, transported to the basement, and then moved through the hallways to the loading dock at Medical Center North/Medical Research Building 3 for removal. Officials from the elevator company and from Vanderbilt Police will be on hand to facilitate the process.

Preparation work at the loading dock and along the path will take place during the morning of April 4, said David Meyer, senior program manager in Emergency Preparedness and Response.
