Changes to eStar detailed

Recent changes to eStar:

  1. For all standard encounters and appointments, the Contact Serial Number (CSN) is now located the same area within Chart Review. This location is under the Visit Information section once an encounter has been selected. Users can now copy the CSN from within Chart Review. This will eliminate the need to manually type in the CSN when searching for a patient within MedEx.

Please refer to the Tip Sheet “Locating CSNs” (available from the Learning Home Dashboard and the Tip Sheets area of Hubbl), which also shows how to locate the CSN from other areas, include the Department Appointments Report and the Appointment Desk.

  1. MedEx is a forms repository from which anyone who provides patient care should pull documents. After selecting the patient and the relevant form, the patient’s demographics will automatically populate on the patient’s label plate located at the top right corner of each form. Once the patient fills out the form, the user can then scan the document so it appears in the patient’s record.

The team has completed a number of enhancements that make access to MedEx easier from within eStar.

These new access options include:

  • Accessing MedEx from the Epic dropdown menu
  • Pinning MedEx to users’ personalized Epic dropdown menu (makes  MedEx link directly available under the Epic dropdown menu)
  • Searching “MedEx” using the Chart Search functionality
  • Adding a MedEx button to a user’s personalized Hyperspace toolbar. Follow screenshots:

Please refer to the Tip Sheet “How to Find and Print Forms -MedEx” (available from the Learning Home Dashboard and the Tip Sheets area of Hubbl), which provides specific detail on how to use these new options for accessing Medex from within eStar.
