Enhanced StarPanel viewer now available in eStar

Updates to the embedded StarPanel viewer within eStar will go into effect the afternoon of July 3. These updates will enhance clinical workflow and efficiency.

Affecting all clinical users of eStar, the StarPanel viewer:

  • Is now populated with live data from eStar
  • Allows free text search functionality (e.g., last name, keyword) to provide intuitive clinical review

  • Provides an aggregated view of pertinent clinical documentation in reverse chronological order (most recent data first)
  • Features aggregate views of other data, such as labs and vital signs (under Actions menu)

eStar users will have to acknowledge a short disclaimer before using the enhanced viewer for the first time.

eStar Updates to Comply with New State Drug Laws

To better ensure compliance with new Tennessee state laws, including TN Together, updates have been made to eStar. These include:

  • ICD-10 code must be associated with every opioid prescription
  • Gabapentin now controlled substance (C-V)

ICD-10 codes and opioids:

  • If ICD-10 code is not associated with every opioid prescription, the clinician will receive a hard stop within the system
  • Additional information is required for any opioid prescribed for “SURGERY,” “MEDICAL NECESSITY,” or “EXEMPT”
  • ICD-10 codes will print on prescription and are sent to the pharmacy via e-prescribing
  • Please refer to the Tip Sheet “Required ICD-10 Codes for Opioid Prescriptions” (available within the Learning Home Dashboard and from Hubbl) for more information.

Gabapentin:

  • Gabapentin will now follow same policy and procedures as other C-V controlled substances
  • Will also be removed from prescription renewal standing order
  • Requires multi-factor authentication for signing
  • No more than six-month duration (5 refills)
