VUMC in the news

A roundup of a few recent stories from the press about Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

 AARP magazine reporter Lisa Haney interviewed William Schaffner, MD, professor of Preventive Medicine, for a story about new shingles vaccine and treatments. The story will run in the November issue. Schaffner was also quoted in a HuffPost story on the importance of hand washing, and a Reader’s Digest piece on vaccines.

NBC News reporter Felix Gussone interviewed Cathy Wilson, Trauma Outreach/Injury Prevention Coordinator, for a story about the Stop The Bleed program and VUMC’s efforts to provide training in local high schools.

Nature Outlook reporter Jeanne Erdmann interviewed Ellen Wright Clayton, MD, JD, professor of Pediatrics and Law, for a story about the ethical issues surrounding cures for genetic diseases that are entering the market in the million dollar range. The story will be co-published in Scientific American.
