New version of multi-factor authentication for VUMC's C2HR and Box to be released in coming weeks
In the coming weeks, a new version of the SafeNet MobilePASS+ application, used by VUMC for multi-factor authentication (MFA), will be released to the Apple iOS and Google Play mobile device app stores. MobilePASS+ 2.0 is the MFA tool you’ll use to access certain areas of AccessVUMC and C2HR, and for our VPN.
Workforce members who do not use MobilePASS+ for MFA will not be impacted by this update. Those who utilize MobilePASS+ MFA hardware tokens, text messaging/SMS, or the “orange” MobilePASS app can also disregard this article.
Those using MobilePASS+ for MFA should be aware of the following:
- You do not need to re-enroll for an MFA token after updating to MobilePASS+ 2.0; your existing MobilePASS+ token will continue to work.
- The MobilePASS+ 2.0 update will follow your device’s standard app update mechanism:
- If your device updates apps automatically, MobilePASS 2.0 will update automatically.
- If your device prompts you for app updates, you will be prompted to update MobilePASS+.
- The MFA authentication workflow will not change; you will continue to use MobilePASS+ MFA in the same way you do today.
- On the Google Android platform, MobilePASS+ requires Android 6.0 or newer. Those with phones running older Android versions can continue to use the existing version of MobilePASS+.
- MobilePASS+ 2.0 has refreshed, but familiar, user experience. For an example, see the screenshot below.
