Team Vanderbilt is home to information about this fall's charity walks and runs

Team Vanderbilt was created to combine all Vanderbilt-sponsored walks, runs and rides in one place to make participation easier. This site enables us to promote participation for each event equally and not overwhelm employees with multiple requests.

Walks listed are sponsored by Vanderbilt University Medical Center and such organizations are approved charities.

Of special note this year is the "Miles for Massion" team.

Colleagues, friends and family of Dr. Pierre Massion are raising funds in his memory during the LUNGevity Foundation’s Breathe Deep Together Walk on Nov. 6.

Money raised by the Miles for Massion team will fund a young scientist with The Pierre Massion Young Investigator Award to support research focused on the early detection of lung cancer and health equity. A donor will match up to $50,000 of every dollar raised by the team for a total award of $100,000. 

Dr. Massion, who died unexpectedly in April 2021, was an internationally known expert on early detection and prevention strategies for lung cancer. He joined Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2001, where he specialized in cancer care and established a research lab that made multiple discoveries related to cancer biomarkers, the evaluation of pulmonary nodules and screening protocols to improve early detection of lung cancer. He was a founding member of LUNGevity’s Scientific Advisory Board and a founding member of the Breathe Deep Nashville Walk. 

The walk, set for 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, is a virtual event. Participants can broadcast their walks in real time through the Charge Running app. Each participant will be able to hear the broadcast, snap photos to share in the live  chat feature and track their mileage.
