Osher Center offering free live-streamed guided mindfulness meditation practices

The Osher Center for Integrative Medicine is offering free 10-minute, live streamed, guided mindfulness meditation practices. These online sessions are appropriate for beginners as well as experienced meditators and are open to anyone — VUMC clinicians and staff, patients and friends in the community.

The aim is to create space for a brief pause in the midst of high demands and great uncertainty so that the body and mind can “reset,” providing a few moments to rest the attention through grounding, anchoring, breathing and bringing awareness into the body and into the moment. This practice is foundational for stress reduction. Even brief mindfulness practices have been shown to help enhance mental clarity as well as physiological and emotional well-being in the face of life stressors and difficulties.
