eStar updates and changes announced; training available for April upgrade

New Look for Pre-Charting Activity

There is a new look for the warning box in the Pre-Charting activity. This new look was made to reduce the amount of space the warning takes up on the screen. No functionality has changed. For more information, please view the Tip Sheet “Pre-Charting Activity Gets a New Look”, available in Hubbl.

Updates to Notes

Beginning March 12, two changes to Notes will be visible in eStar.

  1. Notes entered by a resident or fellow will no longer default the date and time that the note is started by the resident or fellow. This change has been made to prevent incorrect dates and times in saved notes, as notes can be signed by the attending clinician much later.
  2. Before March 12, when an inpatient note was edited or addended, the authorship of the note changed from the original author. To align with recommendations from the Health Information Management advisory team, the note’s original author will remain (as of March 12).

Training Now Available for April eStar Upgrade

eStar users can log into the Learning Exchange and access a number of short online eLearnings that will help prepare them for the changes they will see in eStar beginning the morning of April 7, 2019.  After log-in, users should select “My Courses” to see the eLearnings that have been assigned to them.

Training for the upgrade is based on the specific functionality colleagues use in eStar. It has been designed so that users can take the eLearnings (each of which is less than a few minutes long) in focused bursts, and then save their progress so that they can return to or complete training at a more convenient time.

To view additional courses for the April upgrade, users should click the eStar Training tile (located on the Learning Exchange Dashboard) and look for “eStar 2018 Upgrade.”
