A roundup of a few recent stories from the press about Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

MedicalResearch.com editor Marie Benz interviewed Shari Barkin, MD, director of Pediatric Obesity Research at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, for a story about her JAMA study on the GROW trial. Barkin also spoke with HealthDay and PBS NewsHour about the research.

NPR reporter Allison Kojak interviewed Stacie Dusetzina, PhD, associate professor of Health Policy, for a story about Ohio Medicaid pushing for more transparency in drug pricing.

Nature senior reporter Declan Butler interviewed Buddy Creech, MD, director, Vanderbilt Vaccine Research Program, for a story about universal flu vaccines.

CNN health writer Susan Scutti interviewed William Schaffner, MD, professor of Preventive Medicine, for a story about the CDC’s MMWR’s Zika guidance for prevention of sexual transmission. Yahoo News reporter Korin Miller also interviewed Schaffner for a story about a new tick from east Asia, the Asian long-horned tick, now spreading rapidly along the East Coast.  

Consumer Reports included expert advice from Alex Diamond, DO, director of the Program for Injury Prevention in Youth Sports, in a piece on prevention of heatstroke in children during outside activities.
