Bedside Matters on "Benefits and Harms of Interfacility Transfers" to be tomorrow

Bedside Matters rounds are presented monthly by Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Department of Nursing Education and Professional Development. This month's details:

“Benefits and Harms of Interfacility Transfers”

Academic medical centers (AMCs) are a hub for high complexity patient care.  As a result, interfacility patient transfers to AMCs are common, particularly in the setting of trauma or acute illness.  While patients can receive the highest level of care at these tertiary care facilities, there are many barriers to post-hospital treatment when a patient is transferred hundreds of miles from home.  This seminar explores the complexities of interfacility transfers, including the benefits and harms to patients following transfer across large geographic regions.
