VUMC to begin blocking access to additional categories of websites on April 21
VUMC will begin blocking additional categories of websites from being accessed from VUMC data networks and the VPN (virtual private network) beginning on April 21, 2021. These categories of websites and services are unrelated to VUMC’s missions of patient care, research, and education services.
Website categories to be blocked from VUMC VPN:
- Dating
- Swimwear and intimate apparel
- Auction
Website categories to be blocked from VUMC Guest Wi-Fi:
- Dating
- Swimwear and intimate apparel
Website categories to be blocked from all other VUMC networks:
- Dating
- Swimwear and intimate apparel
- Auction
- Streaming entertainment video services, some of which include:
- Amazon Prime Video
- Hulu
- Xfinity TV
- Netflix
- HBO
- Disney Plus
- Apple TV Plus
- Spectrum TV
- Sling
- MLB.TV
- Vudu
- DIRECTV
- Note: YouTube, Vimeo, news, and other educational and/or informational sites will not be blocked, nor will streaming audio services
After April 21, a pop-up screen will appear if you attempt to view a blocked website. If a valid business reason for continuing to view a particular website exists, please submit the Pegasus request via the link included in the pop-up screen and describe the business purpose for the requested access.
