VUMC IT ExpeditionTech introduces OneDrive for Business

Microsoft OneDrive for Business is officially coming to VUMC. Starting in July, through the end of 2021, VUMC IT is standardizing individual user file storage using OneDrive for Business for all workforce members who have individual files and folders in a department share. These files can be found in locations such as Documents, My Documents, or K:drive mapped on your computer in a department share.

It is important for you to be aware of what is changing, why we are doing it, and what to expect. For this information, see the OneDrive Overview.

What is OneDrive?

OneDrive is the Microsoft cloud service that connects users to their files. It lets you store and protect your files, share them with others, and get to them from anywhere on all your devices.

How to prepare

  1. Get a head start by visiting the OneDrive website and leveraging the OneDrive Migration Look Up tool to find your planned migration date. Knowing your migration date early will allow you ample time to learn more about OneDrive for Business.
  2. If you have not already done so, make sure you configure OneDrive Sync on your devices by following the Microsoft provided instructions for your Windows or Macintosh device.
  3. Two weeks prior to your migration date, expect VUMC IT to begin sending a series of emails with instructions to guide you through the migration.
  4. Three weeks from today, watch for an announcement about registration for OneDrive for Business basic education sessions.

ExpeditionTech is an exciting adventure for the future of VUMC. As with many of the initiatives associated with ExpeditionTech and Microsoft Services, enrollment for Microsoft Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is required. For more information, visit the MFA website.

Thank you for engaging with this effort and helping us to create more secure and collaborative technology environments for VUMC.
